Waterproofing of the ceiling and basement is the most basic among many waterproofing projects, and a stable ceiling and dry basement are the most important. But so far, there is no single material that can meet the requirements of the overall waterproof system, and the selection of materials often requires weighing the relationship between cost and material. In addition, to achieve the expected construction quality, the construction worker's craftsmanship and analytical ability should also be confirmed.
Generally speaking, renovation projects can be divided into two categories: one is to directly apply materials to the surface of concrete for construction; The second is to construct on the surface of the sky.
Concrete surface
Taking general liquid polyurethane waterproof adhesive (PU) as an example, its biggest advantage is that it directly adheres to the surface of the base layer to form a seamless adhesive film. If there is any damage, the leakage area can be limited for easy maintenance. Due to the fact that structural interfaces and concrete cracks are the most common locations for waterproof adhesive cracking, the ability of the adhesive film to cover cracks seems to depend on its elasticity. However, since the surface platform is pressed against the waterproof adhesive, the stress that occurs is a little tensile force, so elasticity and thickness are related and should be considered together. The thickness of the waterproof adhesive film must be evenly distributed. By laying fiber mesh, the thickness can be controlled and the waterproof adhesive film can be strengthened, especially at the corners. In addition, the surface of concrete is usually not smooth, and the use of liquid polyurethane waterproofing adhesive is more effective in sticking to the bottom layer than roll waterproofing adhesive, avoiding the separation of the bottom layer due to air trapping. In fact, repairing cracks and interfaces with resin grouting method first, or repairing honeycomb with cement additive slurry, is an important step to ensure the long-term durability of waterproof construction.
Platform surface
When the surface of the platform does not require decoration, the most economical and convenient method is to directly lay a waterproof layer on the platform. But once there is any damage to the waterproof layer, the leakage range will spread to the entire platform and eventually penetrate to the underlying structure. When using this waterproofing method, the selected waterproofing adhesive should depend on its toughness, rather than the elasticity required to adjust the movement of the bottom layer. Due to its exposed waterproof nature, the waterproof adhesive is easily worn and punctured. In addition, the trapped air in the platform expands and contracts daily and is discharged outward, causing the waterproof adhesive to gradually bulge. To solve these problems, seamless waterproof adhesive can be used to ensure integrity, and fiberglass mesh can be added to strengthen the structure.
